Deepavali Food
There are a variety of traditional dishes served at Deepavali throughout the world. The following are examples of typical Indian dishes served during the festival. These were served to guests at the Texas State Diwali celebration on campus.

Briyani rice is an Indian rice dish made with spices and highly seasoned meats such as mutton or chicken but it can also be served vegetarian.

Roasted chucks of chicken served in a creamy spicy sauce. Interestingly, this dish has also been dubbed the ‘official unofficial dish of Britain”.

A dry potato and cauliflower dish. It is popular not just in Indian but also in Pakistan and Nepal. It gets its’ yellow color from the tumeric in the dish.
